We’ve put together a list of travel tips, recommendations, and accommodations.
Please reach out if you have any questions or need clarification on anything.

AIR

Fly into/out of: Puerto Vallarta (PVR)

We suggest arriving in PVR by December 3rd to avoid any flight delays. Check out our city guide for hotel, restaurants, and other recommendations.

LAND

Where: Puerto Vallarta Airport (PVR) —-> accommodation (city center is ~20 mins)

How: Uber or Taxi or ask us about suggested private car services

AVOID getting transportation inside the airport. Don’t let anyone persuade you as you exit the terminal. Order your own Uber or stand in the taxi line outside of the terminals.

NOTE: Rideshare pick up is outside the terminals and across the pedestrian foot bridge.

HOTELS

We do NOT reccommend choosing all-inclusive rates, unless you plan on staying on the hotel property most of your trip. There’s a lot of incredible and affordable food in town.

$ Bellview Boutique Hotel

Directly across the street from Hacienda. Very small with limited space. Historic hotel with amazing views and one of the best restaurants in town.

*Fiesta Guadalupanas is happening while we are in town and this hotel is close in proximity to the church. It may be noisier than usual and you may hear church bells loudly and often. But it’s fun!

$$$ Casa Kimberly

Next door to Hacienda San Angel. Stunning but pricey. Elizabeth Taylor’s former home. Early bird discount at 25% off directly through their website. Further discounted rates can be provided if 5 or more parties commit to booking here. Please let us know if interested.

$ Marcela Resort & Spa

In a great location, slightly tucked in the hill. Near Conchas Chinas, a great swimming beach. Close rideshare to town.

$$ Hyatt Ziva

Beachside and south of the city. ~10-15 minute drive to Hacienda San Angel.

$$ Villa Premiere

Beachside and in town. ~12 minute drive to Hacienda San Angel. Discounted rates can be provided for 10 or more rooms. Please let us know if you'd like to book here.

$ Playa Los Arcos

Beachside and in town. ~7 minute drive to Hacienda San Angel. ~15 minute walk.

$$ Dreams Vallarta Bay Resort & Spa

Beachside and in town. ~12 minute drive to Hacienda San Angel.

$$$ Secrets Vallarta Bay

Beachside and in town. ~20 minute drive to Hacienda San Angel.

$$ Hilton

Beachside and south of the city. ~20 minute drive to Hacienda San Angel.

$$ Marriott

By the marina. ~5 minutes from the airport. Really nice hotel and convenient but a little removed from the city. Beach is not swimmable due to crocodiles (seriously).

$$ W Punta de Mita

Beachside and north of the city. ~1 hr drive to Hacienda San Angel.

VACATION RENTALS

We prefer rentals over hotels in PVR since it’s a walkable town (and most times it’s more cost-effective). These are just a few we’ve found that are all either walking distance or a short drive to Hacienda San Angel. Please do your own research and read all the reviews! If you have questions about a specific area, please ask us.

If you’d like to be connected to others looking to rent as a group, please reach out and we’ll help facilitate.

TRAVEL TIPS

Puerto Vallarta is a tourist town. It’s very safe but still be smart about your surroundings. Follow our tips below!

AVOID getting transportation inside the airport. Don’t let anyone persuade you as you exit the terminal. Exit the airport COMPLETELY and order your own Uber or stand in the taxi line outside of the terminals.

Don’t drink and brush your teeth with tap water unless you are 100% sure the water is filtered at your accommodation. If you’re not sure, use bottled water only.

Avoid ice in your drink unless you’re at a reputable place and are certain they use filtered water for ice.

Don’t carry your passport around town and instead, put it in your accommodation’s safe (if available) while you are out.

Most places take credit card, but having pesos on hand is helpful for street vendors, emergencies, etc. There are ATMs in town but we always convert currency at our departing airport or at our bank at home first.

DON’T FORGET TO PACK YOUR PASSPORT!

Thank you!
